Described in the Parish guide [www.kirchenkreis-minden.de/simeonis/downloads/simeoniskirchenfuehrer.pdf] [accessed 4 April 2010]: "The Bronze Font. God’s love for mankind is valid for everyone in the world. This is made clear in the command Jesus Christ gave to baptize people. It can be seen on the movable font lid: "Go then to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples: baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit". The Spirit of God, who comes to human beings during baptism, is seen hovering over the top in the form of a dove. For us humans, baptism means a moment of decision for our whole lives. Either we accept God’s love in faith or we turn away from him: "The one who believes and is baptized will be saved. The one who does not believe will be condemned". This is written around the edge of the font. It is decorated with the symbols of the four evangelists who tell us about Jesus Christ in their gospels: Luke with the ox, Mark with the lion, John with the eagle and Matthew with the angel."
