Noted in 'Gotische Bronzefünten in Nordostdeutschland' [http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gotische_Bronzef%C3%BCnten_in_Nordostdeutschland] [accessed 30 March 2010] as a Gothic bronze font made by Lorenz Grove in 1438. Baptismal font of bronze consisting of a cauldron-shaped basin decorated with an inscription below the upper rim, a band of upside-down floral, foliage and fruit motifs below; in the middle of the basin sides are four large medalions, each with a scene inscribed in it and each with five floral or foliage motifs sprouting from it; between these four motifs are tiny medallions inscribing human figures in them [one may be the Anunciation]; around the lower side of the basin is a vine of oak leaves with acorns; the base is made up of four standing youth figures set at 90-degree angles and linked at their feet in a ring lower base decorated with graded mouldings on the sides. There is no cover present, but there is handle-like anchoring at the upper rim that would have been for the lock of the original font cover.
