Baptismal font consisting of an octagonal basin raised on a pedestal base, also octagonal, and a number of human figures at the outer sides [only four of the figures are now left, but it appears to have had one on each side, that is, eight altogether, the other four now missing]; made of bronze entirely; the basin has two levels, both of them decorated with a complex arcade of pointed crocketed arches containing pairs of trefoliled arches with a quatrefoil in the spandrel; the arches contain a variety of Biblical figures; the upper rim of the font is decorated with human and animal heads at the angles; the angles themselves are decorated with stylised pinnacled buttresses that reach all the way down to the underbowl and end in grotesque (?) animal heads; the four remaining human figures that support the basin on the outside, in addition to the central shaft, appear to be male; one wears a coat-of-armour, one other is in clerical garb, and the other two are dressed in burger clothes; all beautifully rendered. There is no cover proper, but the font has a makeshift lid on it. This font is noted and illustrated in 'Gotische Bronzefünten in Nordostdeutschland' [http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gotische_Bronzefünten_in_Nordostdeutschland_und_Polen] [accessed 30 March 2010]: "Diese Fünte ist das einzig erhaltene bronzene Taufbecken in Vorpommern. Das achteckige Becken zeigt Menschen- und Tierköpfe. In dargestellten gotischen Giebelreihen sind jeweils paarweise Apostel, Heilige und Gruppen aus biblischen Geschichten zu sehen."
