Baptismal font of bronze made by Sievert Barchmann in 1540, and said to be originally from the demolished Sankt Lambertirche in Lüneburg; it consists of a bucket-shaped basin raised on four human figures [the four Evangelists?], and a round lower base; the basin is decorated with several gilded bands; some of these are rope or braid motifs but one, near the top, has cherub heads and rosettes in it, and the one right below that has foliage motifs; around the middle is a band of inscription with some motifs in it as separators; near the bottom is another band of foliage morifs; all these bands are gilded; the basin is supported on the backs of the heads of four standing figures set at 90-degree angles and looking outwards; the are individually rendered, each holding a scroll with an inscription on it; the lower base, also of metal, has graded moulding, two of the mouldings are ropes, another has a pattern on it; on the very top of this section is an inscription identifying the make and date of the font. The presnt cover, raised via a pulley above the font is an ornate low-dome with a child-and-lamb finial; it is gilded and painted and appears modern perhaps 19th-century. The font must have had a different cover originally; one of the sides of the basin is fitted with an old, but not original, lock for a cover.
