Anderson (1864) names Roger Bagart as an early incumbent of this church in 1288. In his entry for this church, Timmons (1899) notes: "a chancel arch evidently built by the Normans ; and the plain, bowl-shaped font is perhaps of equal antiquity". The font is noted in Newman & Pevsner (2006): "C12. Plain short tapered tub on a round base." The font appears to be made up of two round volumes: the upper is round, with a wide rounded upper end, then tapering; the lower volume is also round and slightly tapering; there is no ornamentation on either volume, but the finish work on the surface is quite different, with the upper volume showing clearly the patterns of adze-work; the two volumes are raised on a modern polygonal plinth. The wooden cover is octagonal (!) and flat, with a handle; modern.
