Noted in Newman & Pevsner (2006): "Font. Octagonal. Dated 1681." Anderson (1864) cites the 6th-century Welsh poet Llyware Hen, who spoke of "the churches of Bassa", and adds that the church at Baschurch , "originally a collegiate church, was given by Earl Roger of Montgomery to Shrewsbury Abbey" [NB: Roger de Montgomie was one of William the Conqueror's counsellors and died in 1094].. [NB: we have no information from the earlier font(s) of this church]
