The Wiltshire Community History [http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/community/getchurch.php?id=1041] [accessed 23 March 2010] informs: The old parish church, mentioned in the Domesday Book (1086) is said to have dated to before the year 1000, but was demolished in 1857, and replaced by the present church of St. Mary the Virgin, which has a modern font [NB: we have no information on the original font from the demolished church].
