Noted and illustrated in the Enciclopedia del románico en Castilla-La Mancha: Guadalajara (2009) and in Herrera Casado (2014), as a Romanesque baptismal font of the early-13th century made of limestone; it is almost cylindrical in shape, decorated with a vine around the upper basin sides, and an arcade or round arches resting on very broad columns with large capitals; there are five items inscribed in the arcade: an adult male facing front and carrying a large key, an eagle, a winged dragon, a large leave and a smaller figure, probably a woman or a child; raised on a squat base decorated with foliage [the museum display does not include the squate base seen in the Enciclopedia...] The Enciclopedia… (ibid.) suggests the identification of the bearded figure as St. Peter, and remarks the uniqueness of this font design in Guadalajara, and points to neighbouring Palencia and Burgos as the likely place for cognate fonts. There is a metal staple left in the upper rim, and two other traces of evidence related to the old font cover.
