Wilson's Gazetteer of England and Wales (1870-1872) reports an ancient font in this church. The Salopian Shreds and Patches (issue of January 5, 1881: 132) notes: "The font stands at the west and is of stone, plain, massive and round, height 3 ft. 2 in., diam. 2 ft. 4 in." In Newman & Pevsner (2006): "Norman, circular, with a cable moulding at the foot of the bowl."
