There are two entries for this Crowhurst [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/TQ7512/crowhurst/] [accessed 22 March 2016], neither of which mentions cleric or church in it. Harrison (1920) reports a late-15th century church here, but no font. The modern font here is illustrated in the Roughwood British Churches Album [www.roughwood.net/ChurchAlbum/EastSussex/Crowhurst/CrowhurstStGeorge2004.htm] [accessed 21 February 2010]. The font is octagonal overall, with muldings on the basin and base. The wooden cover is octagonal, with a cross finial. Both font and cover are modern. [NB: the church dates from the 15th century, but underwent a major renovation in the 19th century; we have no information on the earlier font]
