Harrison (1920) mentions a "double stoup at the S door" but not a font in this originally 13th-century church. The Roughwood British Churches Album [www.roughwood.net/ChurchAlbum/EastSussex/Catsfield/CatsfieldStLaurence2004.htm] [accessed 20 February 2010] shows a baptismal font consisting of an octagonal basin with plain vertical sides and a graded underbowl chamfer, raised on an octagonal pedestal decorated with trefoiled arches or windows, and a splaying lower base; on a rectangular plinth; the font is probably a late-medieval work, but it has been drastically re-tooled. The wooden cover is octagonal and plain, with metal decoration and ring handle; modern. [NB: we have no information on the font from the earlier church here].
