In his 1836 visit to this church Glynne (1877) reported "a plain octagon" font. The present font, however, appears Victorian: octagonal basin with profusely carved side and underbowl, mounted on a cluster of shafts and a moulded octagonal lower base. It was probably introduced in one of the two major renovations of the 19th century: 1851 and 1878. [NB: we have no information on the whereabouts of the earlier font(s)]
