Hastead (1778- ) notes that the church here, which the Domesday survey of 1086 reports under 'Estotinges', is dedicated to St. Mary, but, it "has hardly any thing worth notice in it". Hasted (ibid.) does not mention a font in it. Glynne (1877) notes as a new font in this church. The font consists of an octagonal basin with a chamfered underbowl, all plain; octagonal stem with mouldings at both ends, on a narrow splaying lower base, octagonal and plain as well. The wooden cover is octagonal, flat and plain; modern. [NB: we have no information of the earlier font from the medieval church]
