Noted in Domesday Book as a chapel. Hasted (1798) notes that the first vicar of Yalding was "Laurence, presented in 1184", but does not mention a font in this church. Glynne (1877) notes: "The font is a plain octagon, on a pedestal of like form". Glynne (ibid.) mentions features of several periods in the church (Early English, Curvilinear, Rectilinear); the font is unlikely to be the original 12th-century vessel, but rather date from on of the later medieval periods [NB: we have no information on the original font of this church]
