Font Notes:
There is an entry for Burham [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/TQ7262/burham/] [accessed 23 February 2022]; it reports a church in it. The Roughwood Biritish Churches Album [http://www.roughwood.net/ChurchAlbum/Kent/Burham/Burham-St-Mary.htm] [accessed 13 February 2010] notes two fonts in this church: the original one and another medieval font believed to be from one of the neighbouring churches -- cf. Index entry for Burham No. 1 for the other font]. This font, the original church and location of which are not known, consists of a round basin with slightly tapring sides decorated with a low-relief arcade of round arches all around; there is an indentation towards the bottom and a chamfer below, creating thus an underbowl shape; it is raised on a plain cylindrical stem and a lower base of like shape, pehaps of a later date. The wooden cover is round and flat, with metal decoration and ring handle; modern.
