Hasted (1800) writes: "the font is of stone, elegantly carved, on it on two shields are the arms of Langley, Per pale, and fess, indented, counterchanged, or, and argent; on two other shields, both alike, Langley quartering, first, Argent, a fess, sable, in chief, three ogresses; second, Argent, a fess, sable, in chief, three escallop shells of the last; third, Gules, a cross-crosiet, argent." Glynne (1877) notes: "The font has a panelled octagonal bowl, but seems to be modern". The Kent Archaeological Society [http://www.kentarchaeology.org.uk/Research/Libr/MIs/MIsKnowlton/01.htm] [accessed 10 Febuary 2010] notes: "At the West end is a handsome octagon Gothic Font. Arms: on East side Quarterly, 1st. Party per pale & fess indented, Or. & Az. 2nd. Ar. a fess Sab. in chief, 3 Pellets. 3rd. Ar, a fess, and 3 escallops in chief, Gu. 4th. Gu. a Cross potent, Er. North side as the first quarter above, singly. West wide as the first, with its quarterings. South side as the opposite, or North, side. On the four other sides are Suffer Little Children to Come. Mar. 10.14."
