The octagonal basin appears to have been re-cut, all side re-worked, as to eliminate whatever was on them; the font appears to be monolithic, the narrowing of the underbowl, the prominent centre ring and the splaying lower base all cut from a single block (?) of reddish stone. The upper rim appears damaged, probably related to the staples of the old cover. The plinth appears modern. The basin well is lead-lined.
