Described in Cox (1913) using an unidentified source [NB: could be a description by Canon Bower reported in the Transactions of the Cumberland and Westmorland Antiquarian -- issue and date unknown]: "The curious shaped font has been described as 'a lopsided nonagon with a quadrangular bowl terminating narrowly at the drain'". The church at Arthuret is said to date from the mid-12th century.
