The National Gazetteer of 1868 notes: "The church, dedicated to St. Michael, is a fine old structure built about the middle of the 13th century, and enlarged and beautified in 1852", but does not mention a font. Wilson (1870) refers to this church as an "Early English edifice" that, "though restored 1853, it has an appearance of great serene antiquity". The font, Wilson (ibid.) adds, "is modern, it is of Coldstream stone, and carved with Early English decorations." [NB: we have no information on the original font of this church]
