Font Notes:
Wilson (1870) notes: "The font is at the south end of the west side. It has the date 1727 on the bowl", but informs that the tower of the church is from a building of the Transitional period. Kelly's Directory of 1890, too, reports a font from 1727 in this church. Described in Pevsner (1957): "Font. 1727. The pillar has an odd corn-cob shape, the round bowl is unadorned." [NB: the present font is dated 1727 but the parish baptismal register starts in 1724, which denotes the existence an earlier font here, probably from the earlier church/chapel; we have no information on the baptismal font from the previous church].
