Font Notes:
Cox (1875) writes: "The font at the west end of the church is interesting from the admixture of styles. Round the summit, which is of circular shape, runs a cable moulding, that taken alone would point to the Norman period; but lower down it assumes an octagon shape, each of the sides bearing a fleur-de-lis in relief, except the one facing due east, which bears a shield charged with a Latin cross. The font itself, independently of the base, is two feet three inches high, and two feet six inches in diameter at the top." Noted also in Kelly's Directory of 1891.
