No font is mentioned in Parker's 1855 entry for this church. The St. Edmundsbury Borough Council website for Nowton Park [http://www.stedmundsbury.gov.uk/sebc/play/nowtonpark.cfm] [accessed 11 November 2006], however, describes the Park that has an area known as 'The Folly' in which a square font was placed by the Oakes family: "The font is believed to have originated from St Peter’s Church in Nowton village." The basin is quadrangular inside and out, decorated with concentric circles (?) on the lower angles of the outer sides; it appears to be mounted on a rock.
