No individual entry found for this Newton in the Domesday survey. Parker (1855) writes: "Font, an octagon, with panelled bowl." The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: TL9197141267] notes: "A flint church with stone dressings of Norman origin but mainly of C14 work. Altered in the C20. The nave is no longer used as a church and is being renovated for alternative use. The church now occupies the former chancel. [...] There is a C15 octagonal font." Knott (2009) notes: "The font has been moved back into the nave, opposite the entrance". The shallow sides of the octagonal basin are decorated with pairs of quatrefoils; two thick roll mouldings at the top of the tall underbowl chamfer; with a floral motif on each of the sides below; another roll moulding at the centre ring-position atop the octagonal stem, the sides of the latter decorated with tracery consisting of pairs of trefoiled arches or windows; roll moulding again at the lower base; on a modern plinth. The wooden cover is octagonal and flat, with metal decoration and handle; appears modern.
