Parker (1855) reports an octagonal font "with panelled bowl and pedestal; the latter with animals around it". That font must have disappeared because the font illustrated in Knott's visit of 2008 is a modern one, coincidentally with some animals around its pedestal base, namely three of the Evangelists' symbols; there are panels also on it as well as on the basin sides, but these are either late Victorian or later. [NB: we have no information on the whereabouts of the font noted in Parker]. A history of Blaxhall by Shane Pictor posted in the village website [http://www.blaxhall.com/history/articles/1066to1699.php] [accesed 27 October 2009] mentions an original font of the 15th century. The Open Churches Trust entry [http://www.openchurchestrust.org.uk/Churches/Blaxhall.htm] [accessed 27 October 2009] has: "The font is 15th century and unusual having a traceried shaft with the Evangelist's emblems at the corners", but the font it refers to is not 15th-century, but the modern one illustrated in Knott.
