Parker (1855) reports a "well sculptured, but mutilated" font in this church [NB: Parker's entry is headed 'Aldborough', probably by mistake with the Norfolk church of that name]. The font in its Victorian (?) re-setting is illustrated in Knott (2009). The font, typical of the East Anglia type of the Perpendicular period, consists of an octagonal basin decorated with demi-figures of angles holding shields alternating with seated lions; the shileds appear blank but mey have had their emblems hacked off; double row of angels' heads and floral motifs at the underbowl chamfer; of the original pedestal base all that remains is the octagonal shaft, the missing lions and the buttresses can only be guessed by the footprint on the lower base, which still retains the little pedestals on which the missing motifs stood; it is mounted on a modern lower base and plinth. The octagonal and flat wooden cover appears modern.
