Parker (1855) reported a plain octagonal font of the Perpendicular period. [NB: Knott (2006?) informs that the new church that replaced Old St. Mary's was consecrated in 1857, so it is assumed that Parker's reference is to the font in the old church; the old church was abandoned and the new one, the Victorian building, was sold and became a private residence in the 1970s -- we have no information on the whereabouts of the Perpendicular font]
