The basin is roughly hemispherical in shape, with a band of lozenge motif between two mouldings at the upper basin sides; the lower end of the basin also has a moulding, but is is interrupted by four spur-like protrusions at 90-degree angles that indicate the placement of the outer colonnettes of the base; the base consists actually of a central shaft and the four outer colonnettes, all with decorated capitals and bases [some of these shafts may be modern replacements]. The font is raised on a polygonal plinth that appears modern.
