Scene Description: Source caption: "Holy Trinity Church, Kirton. View from the north east. The core of the church is 13th century but many of the windows are later insertions from the 14th or 15th centuries. The Perpendicular style tower is also 15th century. Unlike many churches, where the vestry is a Victorian addition, this one dates from the 15th century."

There are five entries (one of them multiple) for this Kirton [variant spellings] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SK6969/kirton/] [accessed 18 May 2020] none of mentions a priest or church in it. Cox (1912) reports the remains of a Norman font in the churchyard [NB: presumably the font inside was the new replacement from the 1865 renovation of the church]. The Nottinghamshire Guardian of 1948 [http://www.nottshistory.org.uk/articles/doubleday/kirton2.htm] [accessed 16 October 2009] reports a "Norman […] font, which, after lying long in the churchyard, now reposes in the porch." The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SK6912069379] notes: "Parish church. C13, C14, C15, restored 1865 [...] Fittings include font, with C19 round and square base, square shaft with 4 minor shafts, and C13 shallow eggcup bowl with C19 cover.
