There are four entries for Barton [-in-Fabis] [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SK5232/barton-in-fabis/] [accessed 13 November 2019], one of which reports "0.5 churches" in it. Cox (1912) writes: "Octagonal font coeval with building; plain square panels". Guilford (1927) dates it to the Decorated period. The entry for this church in the Southwell & Nottingham Church Hitsory Project [http://southwellchurches.history.nottingham.ac.uk/barton-in-fabis/hfitting.php] [accessed 13 November 2019] notes: "By the early twelfth century, there was a church. Lenton Priory, founded around 1103-1108, was granted the land and tithes by Odo of Bunny. In 1231, the Prior was granted an annual pension of five shillings from Barton Church. [...] The octagonal font, a shape used widely used from the late 13th century, stands in the south aisle near the doorway. It is cut out of three large blocks of stone. The bowl is lined with lead. There is a wooden cover on it."
