Scene Description: Source caption: "The church was built in 1860 as a replacement for the previous Norman building to a design by George Shaw of Manchester. It consists of nave, chancel, vestry and north porch style and is essentially Decorated in style. The small steeple was built in 1992 and houses a single bell. There are no significant surviving elements of the old church."

There are two entries for this Eaton [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SK7178/eaton/] [accessed 30 of August 2015], neither of which mention cleric or church in it. The font of the original [medieval?] church disappeared probably at the time of the mid-19th century re-building of this church. The present font is noted in the English Heritage entry for this church [Listing NGR: SK7102177970] (1867): "The C19 octagonal font is decorated with blind traceried round panels."
