Noted and illustrated in the Southwell Churches database [http://southwellchurches.history.nottingham.ac.uk/eastwood/hfitting.php] [accessed 13 October 2009]: "The present church was built in the 1960s but incorporates a tower from the Victorian building of 1858. Previously on the site there was a medieval church, probably of twelfth century origin. This was replaced in 1764 by a brick-built church, which was enlarged in 1828 and was then replaced in 1858 with a stone-built, Gothic building. From this building the tower remains, but the body of the Victorian church was destroyed in a fire in 1963. It was replaced in 1965". The medieval font must have been destroyed ad the fire, or disappeared earlier. With the new building came a new font in 1965, described and illustrated in the Southwell Churches database: "The Font is positioned in the North East corner of the Church and is of cylindrical design, twenty four inches in diameter and forty two and a half inches high, mounted on a plinth of green marble. It is a steel-framed construction covered with bark-effect laminate panelling giving the appearance of a tree trunk. The top surface is fibreglass which is dished and painted black with a drain hole in the centre. A stainless steel dish, eighteen inches in diameter, is place into the top to hold the water for baptisms. The top of the font is edged with a brass rim on which is inscribed ‘Given by the Eastwood Inner Wheel’."
