There is a 1792 in-wash-on-paper drawing of the old baptismal font by Samuel Hieronymus Grimm (1733-1794) in the British Library Collections [Shelfmark: Additional MS 15543 - Item number: f.156] [NB: the basin is depicted as heptagonal in Grim's drawing]. Kelly's Directory of 1881 for Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire (p. 33) reports that the new font erected in the renovations of 1874-5 "has recently been painted from designs by the late Sir Gilbert Scott", but does not mention the whereabouts of the earlier one. Two fonts are noted in Pevsner & Williamson (1979): "One simple medieval […]" [cf. Index entry for Clayworth No. 2 for the second font, and Clayworth No. 3 for an early stoup in the same church]
