Noted in the National Gazetteer of 1868 as an ornametal font. Described in the National Monuments Record, English Heritage [http://www.imagesofengland.org.uk/details/default.aspx?id=268058] [accessed 10 September 2009]: "Octagonally Perpendicular font, a quatrefoil to each face." The quatrefoils on each side of the basin inscribe a blank shield; the underbowl is moulded, and there is a protruding moulding at the centre ring position; the tem sides have trefoiled windows and the lower base has a thick roll moulding ; there is a mini plinth, square with chamfered angles. The wooden cover is box-like and octagonal.
