Font Notes:
Blomefield (1805-1810) writes: "[Scoulton] Church is dedicated to the Holy Trinity, (though I have met with it called All-Saints,) [...] The Church is a small building, its nave being thatched, the two isles and south porch are leaded, there is a low steeple, square at bottom and octangular at top, in which are three bells". Blomefield (ibid.) names "Rob. de Bauns" as the first recorded rector here, in 1295, and cites two entries in Domesday under 'Sculetuna' (fol. 282, 284), though neither mentions church or priest in it. A font here is noted in Pevsner & Wilson (1999): "Plain octagonal C14 type." Illustrated in Knott (2007), who suggests a 17th-century date for the wooden cover. The underbowl of the font is moulded, and the lower base has a slight splay; parts of the font could be modern or re-tooled.
