No entry found for this Thurlaston in the Domesday survey. The present font is modern, probably of the 19th-century restorations here; it consists of an octagonal basin of slightly tapering sides deeply carved with the symbols of the Evangelists, the IHS monogram, an Agnus Dei, etc., raised on a moulded octagonal pedestal base and plain plinth of the same shape. The wooden cover is octagonal and flat, with a metal ting handle; probably of the same date. [NF: the fabric of the church goes back to Norman times, but we have no information on the earlier font(s)]
