There are two entries for Withcote [variant spelling] in the Domeday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SK7905/withcote/] [accessed 28 August 2015], neither of which mentions cleric or church in it. A font in this chapel is noted and illustrated in Leicestershire Churches [www.leicestershirechurches.co.uk/withcote-chapel/] [accessed 28 August 2015]: "In 1865 the chapel was reseated and a new over large font installed." The massive font at Withcote Chapel consists of a square basin with a running inscription ["Suffer little children...Kingdom of God"] on the sides that are otherwise plain; raised on a central pillar and four detached colonnettes at the angles, a square lower base and a two-step plinth. Round wooden font cover. [NB: the chapel itself is originally 16th-century, but we have no information on the earlier font here].
