Blomefield (1805-1810) writes: "The Church is dedicated to St. Andrew the Apostle, whose effigies was painted on the wall over the north door, though now whited over. Who was the first founder of a church here I know not; but the present nave, in all probability, was built by Sir Robert, son of Sir Robert de Bosco, Knt. about the latter end of the 12th century," There is no mention of a font in Blomefield's entry for this church. Noted in Pevsner & Wilson (1999): "Font. Norman, altered. Top rim of rope moulding.-- Font cover. Simple, C17, with volutes." Noted and illustrated in Knott (2007). Only the upper half of the square Norman basin remains more or less original, though with insert repairs; there is the tip of a motif at the angles, but the rest has been carved off to give the rest of the basin a 'clean' look to match the almost plain pedestal base. The wooden cover has a plain square platform with eight vertical scroll ribs; split-ball finial.
