The Domesday entry for "Elincham" in Blmefield (1805-1810) reports "a church endowed with 24 acres" here; "The Church is dedicated to St. Mary, and is a rectory." The present font is noted in Pevsner & Wilson (1999): "Octagonal. C15, alternating shields and roses on the bowl." Illustrated in Knott (2008). The sides of the basin have roses I quatrefoil panels alternating with blank shields in cusped panels; the underbowl has human heads (all of them now defaced) at the angles and floral motifs on the sides of the chamfer; the base is formed by eight clustered colonnettes with capitals and bases; on a modern two-step plinth. The wooden cover is plain, round and flat; appears modern. [NB: we have no information on the font of Domesday time here].
