'Old font of 12th century origin which was returned to the church in 1927 after use as a cottage doorstep' [source: local church notes]. What remains now is a fragment of the square basin, showing that the sides were originally slightly curved and decorated with thick piping or columns at the angles; the base is an amorphous piece, difficult to even guess at what its original shape was; the basin had a central drain but it now appears cemented over. [cf. Index entry for Kersey No. 2 for a font of the Decorated period listed for this church]
