Blomefiled (1805-19810) writes: "The church is dedicated to all the Saints, and hath a square tower and five bells; there are two isles with chapels at their east ends, the chancel and nave are thatched. When Norwich Domesday was wrote, Robert Fitz Osbert was patron; the rector had a house and 26 acres of glebe, which joins to the north side of the churchyard; the living, with the portion of the prior of SEES, was valued at 26 marks [...] There was a free-chapel in this town, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the way which leads to it is still called Chapel-gate-lane, but it hath been long since demolished." Blomefild (ibid.) names "Henry de Clavering" its frist recorded rector, in 1307. Noted in Pevsner & Wilson (1999): "C18, with fluted stem." Noted and illustrated in Knott (2006). Octagonal basin with a thick moulding at the upper rim; pairs of niches on the sides; moulded underbowl; the base replicates on its sides the niches of the basin; moulded lower base. The wooden cover is a 20th (?) century rendering of the traditional Jacobean design; Latin cross finial. [NB: the fabric of the church goes back to the 13th century, but we have no information on the earlier font(s) of this church]
