The Domesday entry for "Norrepes", transcribed and translated in Blomefield (1805-1810) includes "Sutreps" as well, with a church and twelve acres in it; a description of which is given in this author: "The Church of South Repps is dedicated to St. James, and is a rectory, and had the same patrons as North Repps. John Earl Warren was lord in the reign of Edward I. the rector had then a manse with 12 acres of land [...] In 22d of Edward I.[i.e., 1294] William de Rollesby occurs rector." The present font here is noted in Pevsner & Wilson (1997): "Simple, Perp[endicular], with quatrefoils but recut." The restored font has a large quatrefoil with rosetted in the inner tips, the whole in a square panel; the underbowl is graded; the pedestal base, the lower base and the two-step plinth appear modern. Ornate wooden cover of the type with eight vertical scroll ribs around a centre pivot, with an acorn (orb?) and cross finial; appears modern. [NB: we have no information on the font from the ca.1294 church here].
