Blomefield (1805-1810) writes: "At the Conquest it was in four parts; one was [...] under the care of Godric; the advowson of the church, which had then 9 acres of glebe, and the second part, belonged to William de Warren [...] The Church is dedicated to St. Andrew [...] the tower is square, and hath two bells, and a third stands broken in the church; the nave is leaded, the chancel thatched, the south porch tiled, and a north vestry is ruinated." Blomefield (ibid.) names "Master de Roger Strattone" as first recorded rector , in 1320. The present font is described in Pevsner & Wilson (1997): "Plain, C15, octagonal." The font has two mouldings on the stem. On an octagonal plinth. The wooden cover is octagonal and flat, with metal decoration and ring handle. The font appears re-tooled and has at least one inserted stone repair on the rim side. [NB: we have no information on the font of the ca.1066 church here]
