Christ - Agnus Dei - with cross

Scene Description: very crude rendering but the intention is obvious, given the classic posture of the animal with one of the front legs bent towards the lower part of the cross behind; presumably the fifth leg is meant to be the tail of the lamb

A crude quadrangular basin with tapering sides; only two of these are visible in our only source [a digital photograph by Rabespierre posted in Flickr [www.flickr.com/photos/rabiespierre/2252635137/in/pool-pilas_bautismales_o_agua_bendita] [accessed 18 June 2009]]: on the left side, two round blind arches; on the front side, a single round arch containing a very crudely-rendered quadruped with a cross behind; crude though it is, it is rendered in the traditional posture of the Agnus Dei, the lamb with one of the legs bent so as to hold the cross. One of the upper sides of the basin has been cut or broken; probably an anchoring spot for an old cover staple. The basin is raised on three (?) blocks of stone that appear not to be related to the it. We have no information on the origin of this font. It is a crude local work, and perhaps the low skill of the work makes it look older than what it is.
