Font Notes:
A booklet on the San Ignacio Mini mission published probably in the 1970s illustrates the baptismal font from the mission church: it consists of a tulip-shaped basin decorated with foliage clusters all around, a double ring moulding underneath, and a splaying base with thin colonnettes at 90-degree angles, on one side in between a bird (eagle?), cross-shaped lower base and a plain circular plinth. Recent photographs of the ruins, however, identify a wheel-like fragment on the grounds as part of the baptismal font; if the identification is correct, the fragment could be part of the double ring moulding described above. A church inventory of 1768 [cited in http://www.misiones.gov.ar/historia/PatrimonioJesuitico.htm [accessed 11 June 2009]] appears to refer to a baptismal font made of tin ["La capilla del Baptisterio con su altar y retablo medio dorado, y pila bautismal, uno de piedra y la otra de estaño"]
