Church Notes: a church here documented 1025; present fabric 12th-13thC with later modifications
Described in the Enciclopedia del románico en Castilla y León (2002- ) as a Romanesque baptismal font probably of the second quarter of the 13th century made of limestone, of which the original base has been lost; the hemispherical basin is plain but for a narrow moulding at the upper rim ["pila bautismal tallada en piedra caliza, en forma de copa, aunque ha perdido el pie original. El vaso es hemisférico, liso, con estrecho bocel recorriendo el labio, formando parte de una tipología de tradición románica, pero que en este caso perfectamente puede ser contemporánea de la construcción del templo."]. The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed 3 December 2021] notes: "Tiene su iglesia dedicada a San Cristóbal, un poco apartada del pueblo, en alto. Es románica en parte, con un ventanal del siglo XII [...] La pila es románica con pie cilíndrico y borde moldurado". No cover present but the basin retains the metal staples of a former cover at the upper rim
