The Enciclopedia del románico en Castilla y León (2002- ) reports a baptismal font of post-medieval appearance semi-buried in the exterior, among the ruins of this abandoned church; the basin is decorated with ribbed pattern, the base with palmettes. [NB: "La iglesia de San Miguel esconde [...] una pila bautismal asoma entre pedruscos mugosos y ramajes secos, a los pies del campanario objeto de la polémica" -- the "polémica" referred to is the demand that the window of the bell tower was acquired by the Frederic Mares of Barcelona's famous museum and the town of Tubilla del Agua demands now [2005] the return of the window [source: note by Ricardo Coarasa, January 9, 2005 in La Razon Digital]. The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed October 2022] notes that there were three parishes here until 1868: "San Miguel, San Juan y Santa María", of which the latter remains with the advocation of "la Asunción de Nuestra Señora"; this same source refers to the disused "iglesia de San Juan, ya en desuso", and to that of "las ruinas de la iglesia de San Miguel". A plaque of a later date than the resources above [ca. 2022?] [cf. ImagesArea] states that a font here was found semi-buried and fogotten; the text on the plaque describes it as a crude Romanesque work on limestone dated to the 11th century, gives the measurements as: height=105 cm; outside diameter of the basin=90 cm; the basin is described as hemispheric; raised on a short cylindrical stem decorated with mouldings and incisions, and a quadragular lower base; the font is now shown [cf. Images area] standing outside the ruined church, showing large sections of damage, especially to the upper areas of the basin.
