The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed 18 May 2021] notes: "Su iglesia está dedicada a San Millán, abad. Es gótica [...] La portada es renacentista [...] La pila es románica, tosca, con pie cónico y moldura". Described and illustrated in the Enciclopedia del románico en Castilla y León (2002- ) [www.romanicodigital.com] as a baptismal font of the Romanesque period consisting of a hemispherical basin decorated with very crude zigzag and wheels incised just below the upper rim; some damage at the place where a metal staple was forcefully removed; raised on a a circular stem with a lower moulding [="La pila bautismal, de traza románica, consta de copa semiesférica de 80 cm de diámetro ×54 cm de altura, sobre tenante cilíndrico de 38 cm de alto. En su frente se dispone una tosca decoración incisa consistente en una banda de zigzag junto a la embocadura y rosetas en clípeos. Otra incompleta y ruda banda de zigzag con perlas decora parte de la superficie"]. The decoration on the font appears to show that a stone mason had the idea of the sort of motifs were used on other fonts in the area, but he was not skilled enough to replicated them, hence the crude and irregular carvings on this font. There is no font cover present but there is evidenco of damage opposite sides of the upper of the basin where the former metal staples have split the stone.
