Described and illustrated in the Enciclopedia del románico en Castilla y León (2002- ) as a baptismal font of the Romanesque period; the font consists of a bucket-shaped basin the sides of which are decorated with a background of broad flat ribs, on which run two overimposed bands: on the upper is a linked-circle interlace, while the lower has a wavy line or vine with palmette inserts; the inside of the basin is decorated with concave ribbing; the base is moulded and very short, and has a lion with an extended tail at the lower moulding [NB: it actually appears to be a fight between a lion and a snake -- cf. ImagesArea]. The Enciclopedia… (ibid.) indicates similarities between the fonts at Bañuelos del Rudrón, Grijalba, Villegas, Villamayor de Treviño, Villarmentero, La Piedra, Villasandino, Rebolledo de Traspeña y Los Valcárceres. There is some damage to the upper rim, and there are two metal staples on the side of the basin. No cover present. The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed 27 December 2021] notes: "iglesia, dedicada a San Julián, obispo, renacentista [...] La pila es románica, de tipo vaso, apoyada sobre serpiente [cf. supra], con gallones y anillos vegetales y aros, buena".
