Font Notes:
Sáenz Rodríguez (2004) and the Enciclopedia del románico en La Rioja (2008) mention a number of old baptismal fonts gathered at the Museo del claustro de la Catedral, in Santo Domingo de la Calzada. Of these fonts one, originally from Cellorigo, was moved to the Iglesia de la Trinidad, in Calahorra [cf. Index entry]. Two others are noted in the Enciclopedia… (ibid.) as being still in the Museo at the time [ca. 2008?], from two hamlets of Santa Engracia del Jubera: Cenzano and El Collado (Iglesia de San Juan Bautista). The font from Santa Maria de Zenzano [aka Cenzano] is described as hemispherical and made of dark sandstone, raised on a round pedestal and a lower base; a date prior to the 14th century is suggested in this source, but Sáenz Rodríguez (ibid.) suggests the 14th century. [NB: the Enclicopedia… (ibid.) futher notes that the diocesan authorities appear to have the intention [policy?] of relocating the old fonts to new parishes as needed. This will require later modifications to the listing of these fonts in BSI]
