Jeboult (1873) reports: "The font has the appearance of having been mutilated", with tradition blaming the Puritans; the same source notes: "It is proposed to erect a new font". Not mentioned in Pevsner (1958). A 1928 postcard of the church interior [http://www.somerset.gov.uk/archives/ASP/PostcardShow.asp?Image=../Images/Postcard2/A3016/A3016139.jpg&Title=Norton+Fitzwarren%2C+Church+interior] [accessed 24 September 2009] shows the font located in he north-side bank of pews, a plain cylindrical basin with a round and flat wooden cover. The surface of the basin appears very neat, quite possibly re-cut or re-tooled.
